Dr. Hunnewell initially trained in eye and periocular microsurgery. She completed specialized fellowship training in Neuro-ophthalmology and orbital surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. A faculty position at Dean A. McGee Eye Institute brought her to Oklahoma City. |
A few years later she considered a 2 year plastic surgery residency but decided she would get more cosmetic surgical experience in a facial cosmetic and laser surgery fellowship. She was able to work with Dr. Sterling Baker who pioneered the use of lasers in eyelid surgery and with Dr. Gary Lask who pioneered facial laser resurfacing and does the laser procedures on Hollywood's rich and famous. While at UCLA, she worked with Dr. Arnold Klein in his Beverly Hills office. He pioneered the use of collagen injections and is popularly known for injecting Goldie Hawn in the movie First Wives Club.
She has held faculty positions at the University of Tennessee, Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Oklahoma. She has been involved in many research projects.
She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in Nov. 2004. After undergoing an aggressive chemotherapy regimen, her obssessive-compulsive energies became directed at how to achieve optimal health. She went through Age Management Medicine training at Cenegenics Medical Institute and became certified in Age Management Medicine and also completed Metagenics First Line Therapy Physician Certification course. She completed a training course at UCLA on the biochemistry of skin care products. She has completed many educational seminars by Dr. Robert Rakowski, who provides medicalnutritional management to many of the well known elite athletes. Dr. Hunnewell is also a member of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery (ASCDAS).
